we needed ourselves.
Mission in Motion is a software studio founded by Jared and Janie Latimer. We build tools that we searched for, tried, and gave up on — then decided to build ourselves.
Our Story
We know what it's like to need a tool that just works and doesn't exist yet — or exists but isn't right. That frustration is where every product we build starts.
Jared spent years on theatre production crews watching teams juggle binders, spreadsheets, and group texts to run shows. That experience became ProdBook — a production management platform built by someone who's been on the crew when communication breaks down.
We also spent three years building eight different versions of a cash flow forecasting tool because nothing out there worked the way money actually works: day by day, dollar by dollar. That persistence became Sefizo.
Both products share the same Elixir and Phoenix foundation — a stack we chose for its reliability, real-time capabilities, and ability to move fast. We're not a big team with layers of process. We build, we ship, and we use what we ship.

We use our own products
If we depend on it, we make sure it's right. We're the first users, the most demanding testers, and the ones who feel the pain when something isn't working.
Software should fit how you work
Too many tools force you to adapt your workflow to software. We build the other way around — starting from how real people actually do things.
Specificity over generality
We don't build one-size-fits-all. Each product is purpose-built for its specific audience — theatre teams, people managing their cash flow — not "users."
Ship and keep improving
Software doesn't ship and sit. We keep using it, keep finding friction, keep making it better. That's the job.
